new microtome!

My new toy arrived!!!
11K for one toy... quite ex actually.

The new rotary microtome from Leica. Chockfull of new features not found in the old model. The company started to take into consideration users comments and came up with this machine. This is the latest release model, after the beta version came out about half a year ago. Good thing we bought this unit only now after the initial problems were settled.

Mr. J's adventure in the land of J

We break from our usual program to bring you this special broadcast. Mr. J who is J-land at the moment, dropped me a few pics to share with you screen droolers. Check it out:

0459 - The bus from Kansai airport to Kyoto. Was a pleasant ride but too sleepy as could not sleep on the overnight flight...the space was too small!

0468 - Interesting golf driving range.

0474 - sink/kitchen area. Will post more photos when the house looks a bit nicer.

0476 - Oh dear! I live 5 minutes from Liquor Land!

0477 - Daimonji - A huge 大 character carved onto the mountain, which is burned once a year in June, and has been done since 1489 (I think). It burns like this http://www2.ocn.ne.jp/~oghome/kyoto/daimonji.jpg

0478 - First meal in Japan.

0479 - Nice little walkway near my place

A sign for a Korean restaurant which is called 韓のおしり which unfortunately translates to Korea's Bum.

0485 - Help! My soap is Naive!

0513 - Area about 1 minute walk from my apartment. Its called 哲学の道 which kind of translates to Philosopher's Road or the Path of Philosophy. Its lined with Sakura in the spring and Japanese maples in the Autumn

0515 - My extremely A-Peh bicycle with a basket and everything.

0520 - Sunset over some Sakura near a temple.

0527 - River - Kyoto is full of rivers and bridges.

0528 - Super yummy vanilla yoghurt - addicted.

0533 - Hakkaisan sake - Its the type I had with Prof and Justin when we were at Kanazawa.

the corridor: air cond part dunno what liau

The new air cond settling in:

Finally found the pic of the old motor from the old air cond. Its a wonder it even worked.

Testing out the new blower. Better cover the vents or else it may throw out dirt.

The ducting for the new air cond. If you go back in the posts to pics of the old air cond. you will notice that this new one comes in two blocks. The old one only has one block. Double the horsepower?

Reconnecting some ducting and insulating others. They had some problem with the fume cupboard ducting and had to insulate all the fume cupboards exhaust vents. Long story short, the cupboards were sucking out cold air. At the top of the chimney, condensation happened, thus it started raining on level 1.

Woolrock or is it rockwool. Dangerous if you breathe in the fibers. Can cut up your insides. The workers all wore masks to work.

Anybody up there? Placing a new vent at the student corridor area. We will soon freeze!
