Leaves and Locks

Although its nearly the end of October, autumn arrives slowly in Kyoto. The best time to observe koyo (紅葉), or the change of the autumn leaves, is in mid-November. Will post more pictures when that happens. Especially pretty is the momiji, Japanese Maple.

This is my first (and only) line of defence against winter and robbers. A flimsy sliding door that I have to be careful not to bang into when I walk in and out in case I smash it accidently. Thank god I have a heater for my room now.

This is my internal security system. When I am in the apartment and sleeping etc, this is the only lock I've got!

This is the external security measure. The metal bracket is attached to the wood by 2 small screws. I think an 8-year-old could pull it out of its socket.

Ok back to studying for me. Wish me luck eh!

Good luck with that. Maybe Japanese criminals are more honorable?
